Shall be the event that requires the competitors to score points by using
takedown, throwing, and pinning techniques only. No striking, joint locks,
bear-hug throws, or submission techniques will be allowed. 2 minute matches

RING
OFFICIALS & SCORING PROCEDURES
Only 1 ring official (a referee)
will be used to officiate jujitsu sparring matches in all black belt and under
black belt divisions.
The referee will wear a RED wristband on one of (his/her) wrist, and a
WHITE wristband on the other.
During each match, one competitor will wear a RED flag (tied to his/her
uniform belt) and shall be referred to as “red”. The other competitor will wear
not flag and be referred to as “white”.
Points Calling
When one of the competitors scores a takedown, throw, or pinning techniques, the
referee will raise the arm that indicates to the scorekeeper which competitor
scored and indicate the number of points to award the competitor.
¾ 2 Points -plus-
¾ 1 Extra Point
When a competitor scores a clear takedown or throwing techniques, the referee
will hold up 2 finger, and the competitor will be awarded 2 points, but the
referee will not call “break” or stop the match until one of the competitors
scores a 3 second pin, or until both competitors have been down on the mat for
15 seconds.
If the same competitor who scored the takedown or throw, also pins his/her
opponent within 15 seconds after both of them are down, the referee will hold up
a third finger for that competitor and that competitor will receive a total of 3
point. The referee will immediately call “break, -have the competitors stand up,
then restart the match.
¾ 2 Point “Counter”
If the competitor who was taken down or thrown, counters and scores a 3 second
pin within 15 second (after they are down) the referee will hold up 2 fingers
and immediately call “break.” The competitor will be awarded 2 points, and the
referee will restart the match.
Break & Restart
1.The referee
will immediately call “Break” to stop the match when a competitor
scores a 3 second pin - then have the competitors stand up - and restart
the match.
2.The referee
will call “Break” to stop the match after both competitors have been down for 15
seconds (whether either of them have scored or not) - have the competitors stand
up - then restart the match.
3.The referee
will immediately call “Break” if he/she notices any type of choke-hold,
joint-lock, or other type of submission techniques being used by either of the
competitors during the match. The referee will have the competitors stand up,
then issue a warning, or deduct 1 whole point from the competitor who used the
illegal technique, then restart the match, or disqualify the competitor who used
the illegal techniques if this was the competitor’s third warning.
Takedowns
To be considered a takedown, a competitor must have arm or leg contact
with
one of his/her opponents’ legs while executing a tripping, sweeping,
reaping
technique, or a dropping throw. A competitor may not lift their
opponent so that both
feet leave the mat, and throw or dump them. A competitor may not
swing/sling
his/her opponent about the ring and to the mat.
Pins
A pin can be awarded in two ways:
1.A competitor
must hold the back side of one of his/her opponents’ shoulders on the mat, in
such a way that the opponent cannot touch the mat with both palms on the same
side of their body, until the referee signifies that 3 seconds have
elapsed.
2.A competitor
must hold the back sides of both of his/her opponents’ shoulders
on the mat until the referee signifies that 3 seconds have elapsed
Warning, Penalty Points, and Disqualification’s
1.If a
competitor shows disrespect or unsportsmanlike like conduct toward the referee,
other officials, competitors, fans, or spectators.
2.If a
competitor uses strikes, choke-holds, joint locks, any type of submission
technique, or any throwing technique that requires lifting both feet of the
opponent off of the mat, anytime during the match.
3.Stalling to
keep his/her opponent from scoring.
First time: the referee will issue a warning.
Second time: the referee will deduct 1 whole point.
Third time: the referee will disqualify the competitor. The 3rd
warning for any
combination of infractions listed above will result in
disqualification.
Match Winner
1.The
competitor who scores 9 points first within the 2 minute time limit.
2.The
competitor who scores a 6 point spread within the 2 minute time limit.
3.The
competitor who has the most points at the end of the 2 minute time limit.
If there is a TIE
1.If there is
a tie at the end of the 2 minute time limit, the match will be extended 1
extra minute. The first competitor who scores a takedown, throw, or pin, will be
the winner of the match.
If
there is still a tie at the end of the extra 1 minute, the competitors will draw
numbers. Higher number wins.
