OFFICIALS
Adult Back Belt Divisions
A team consisting of 5 officials (1 Center Referee & 4
Corner Judges) will be used to officiate all adult black divisions.
Junior Black Belt & Under Black Belt Divisions
A team consisting of 3 officials (1 Center Referee & 2
Corner Judge may be used to officiate all junior black belt & under black belt
divisions.
SCORING
PROCEDURES
During each match,
one of the competitors will wear a RED flag .
(tied to his/her uniform belt)
and be referred to as “Red”. The other competitor will
wear no flag and will be
referred to as “White”.
Wristbands
The center referee will wear a RED wristband on one of
his/her wrist and a WHITE wristband on the other wrist.
Flag Poles
Each corner judge will use a flag pole with a Red Flag
on one end, and White Flag on the other end.
Points Calling
When one of the competitors makes contact with a
punching or kicking technique, the Center Referee will call “Break” (stop the
match) to get a point confirmation. The center referee will yell the words,
“Judges Call” and instantaneously, the center referee will point to the
competitor he/she is awarding the point to, while the corner judges raise a (red
or white) flags to indicate which competitor they are awarding the point to.

Point
The competitor who receives the majority of
confirmations (from the officials) after an exchange of techniques will receive
the point.
Legal Target Areas
A competitor will receive a point only when “light
controlled contact” or “controlled no contact” is made to the following
areas of the opponent’s body.
1.Face (controlled no contact)
1.Side, Top or Back of the head (light, or
controlled no contact)
2.Front or Side of the body (light
controlled contact)
Illegal Target Areas
A competitor will receive a warning each time he/she
makes contact to any of the following areas of his/her opponent’s body with any
type of contact.
1.Any area below the opponent’s waistline.
2.Back of the opponent’s head or body.
3.Front or back of the opponent’s neck
Legal Techniques
Competitors will be allowed to use the following
techniques to score points.
1. Reverse Punch 5. Front
Kicks 9. Hook Kicks
2. Back fist
6. Roundhouse Kicks 10. Ax Kicks
3. Ridge hand 7.
Side Kicks
4. Chop
8. Spin Kicks
Illegal Techniques
A competitor will receive a warning each time he/she
uses any of the following techniques to make contact to any part of the
opponent’s body.
1. Spin Back fists 3.
Head-butting 5. Elbow Strikes
2. Piercing (to the face) 4. Knee
Strikes 6. Holding
3 WARNINGS
RULE
The center referee will issue a warning each time a
competitor commits any of the
following violations during a match.
1.Shows disrespect or unsportsmanlike like
conduct.
2.Steps out of bounds without being forced
out.
3.Stalling - staying away excessively to
avoid contact
4.Uses an illegal technique - strikes an
illegal target area
When a competitor receives a 3rd warning
for any combinations of infractions, the center referee will award 1 point to
his/her opponent - and 1 point each time thereafter for any violation committed
by the competitor.
Match Winner
1 The competitor who scores 3 points first within the
2 minute time limit.
2. The competitor who has the most point at the end of
the 2 minute time limit.
If there is a TIE
1.If there is a tie at the 2 minute time
limit, the match will be extended 1 extra minute (overtime). The first
competitor who scores a point will be the winner.
2.If there is still a tie at the end of
overtime, the competitor who scored the last point will be the winner.
3.If neither competitor has scored a point
by the end of overtime, the center referee will have the competitors pull a
number from a small box containing 2 numbers (1 & 2). The competitor who pulls
the higher number will be the winner.
IMMEDIATE
DISQUALIFICATION
A competitor will be disqualified immediately upon
committing any of the following violations.
1. Insubordination
a. Failing to follow the center referee’s direct
instructions
b. Physical or Verbal abusiveness involving
anyone.
2. Excessive Contact
a. Makes contact to the opponent’s face
(whether it was
accidental or intentional) that draws blood,
causes redness
& swelling, cuts, bruises, fractures or
unconsciousness.
